Hey, folks.
My IBM T21 ThinkPad is currently more of a desktop than a portable. That's because while I can see the LCD elements change, there's no backlight to illuminate them. I figure this means one of four things: 1) The bulb is burnt out; 2) The cable through the hinge has busted or come loose; 3) Somehow the connector into the motherboard is faulty; 4) Some things more in heaven or earth than dreamt of in my philosophy, Horatio.
Anyway.
The point is, I need somebody more expert than I to look at the beastie. Does anyone have experience with a laptop repair shop in town? Either good or bad is valuable -- knowing who *not* to see may be as important as a positive recommendation. Because I have two other machines here at my desk (let alone
akirlu's machine), and since this is important, but not urgent, backing up isn't a problem.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
