Separated at birth?

So, knowing that Romney is hunkered down, I decided to go to Boston.com -- the website of the Boston Globe -- to see if he'd dropped out of the race yet. Here's what I saw:



See the photo of the guy in the middle column? I thought, "Boy, doesn't that look like...?" and I went trawling at Google Image Search.

Check this out. I was looking for a general example of what I had in mind, but the specific resemblance is spooky:



The image on the right is a Romano-Egyptian portrait of the 2nd century BC. It comes from this page at San Jose State, but it's a style I've seen a bunch of times, especially at the Getty Villa.

The man on the left is Frank DeMeo, a 19-year-old high school wrestler who was killed in a car crash with a teammate. The picture doesn't appear in the article, oddly.
