There's a restaurant in Renton I go to, Tommy's Cafe, that has a picture of a CVN making a heeling turn. I went online looking for a copy, but it seems it either a) hasn't been scanned, or b) my google-fu is weak.

On the other hand, I found this. Not quite as good -- the one at Tommy's is from the stern, and shows the turning radius a bit better. But not something one sees everyday, no...

I was in an aircraft chained down on the flight deck of ENTERPRISE when she did something similar. We were chasing weather good enough for flight ops.
The DD couldn't keep up.

My co-worker was a helicopter pilot on a carrier. She's got some great stories about the day-to-day life on a ship, and among them is the experience of things like this. I still can't quite wrap my head around spending that much time on a boat that size. Its amazing.
