They Might Be Giants

libertangoUlrika and I went to The Crocodile to see They Might Be Giants. This was originally planned as a kinda sorta birthday gathering for ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jadine, but Ulrika really likes TMBG on their own, as do I.
Meeting Jadine/Jen pre-concert was cool. I only wish my hearing was being more cooperative. I was having a very difficult time de-coding what was being said around me. I could hear the voices, but they were often seemingly bzz bzz, and it's hard to ask people to speak not only a bit louder but also more clearly.
The concert itself I liked a lot. The highlight for me was a long drum solo/comedy skit by drummer Dan Hickey and John F. the guitar player. Dan did pastiches of drumming styles of Keith Moon, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Stevie Wonder songs in the mid-1970's, Stevie Wonder songs post 1985 or so, Animal from the muppets... 13 styles in all. Great stuff, and hilarious if you know the riffs.
Interestingly, I also spotted Zannah in the crowd. Couldn't bring myself up to introducing myself, as I was already feeling a bit foot-in-mouth-ish, but was amused at the sense of how many web geeks of various stripes were out for the concert.
We then left pretty much immediately when the show ended, because Ulrika was feeling mildly wiped.
But mostly fun, overall.
