{how stringent those standards will be probably depends on how many drinks the bartenders give him...}
Hal needs to be logged into a PC there...

HAL needs interaction to assist in his retraining, so please talk to him.

But what of HAL's needs? As we've speculated, he's almost certainly capable of being "influenced by sex appeal," and his electronic eros probably bears the stamp of a separatist upbringing.

We both agreed that Hal needs to lead an effort to develop a strategic plan for the School that involves the faculty, staff, and students.
{strategic, damnit!}
If the HAL needs to be updated, a pop-up box appears during installation.
{like michael feldman says, innuendo and out the other. "pop-up." followed by "box." snort. on the other hand, note that this elevates me to the class of, "the donald."}
To speak, HAL needs to be visible, so it is best to set him to "Desktop" mode, I guess.
{because "layabout" mode ain't visible enough.}
Though confident of his abilities, Hal's envy of Hotspur suggests he is not completely confident, since Hal needs to compare himself to others.
