I originally saw a pointer to this in the Seattle Times, but I thought I'd pass the idea along:

The American Red Cross has guidelines for what's safe in your refrigerator after a power outage. Should you have power now, and you're doing triage, they also have a printable .PDF so you can hold a copy in your hands as you rummage through the detritus.

I saw this a bit too late for our purposes, but it's nice to know, as confirmation, that I ended up keeping the right things. Granted, how can you go wrong with warm beer, shelf-stable pudding and maple syrup? But, still. It was good to see that it even exists, thank you. I'll keep it in mind for next time (no, please, no next time...). Glad you guys weathered the storm okay!
