This time it's not coming down as flakes so much as round, small-than-hail pellets that accumulate. You can hear them go snap-crackle-pop as their land on the sidewalk (and your hair). The folks who've shelled out the extra bucks for covered parking are in for a mild surprise -- the snow globules are also very lively in their bounce, so even the cars under the eaves have snow up front. The snow's bounced right up onto them from the ground.
