Ulrika and our dog Sarah have moved up here, helped by my mom and many generous Seattle area fans. Many things are still in boxes, but we're maintaining steady progress on that front.

Over the last two days, we've installed a new DSL hookup from Earthlink. We then went out and got a wireless switch/router/POP/print server/hardware-based firewall/milk shake mixer/floor wax/dessert topping. The upshot of that is I can now use my notebook to wireless access the DSL from anywhere in the apartment, and I can put the desktops anywhere.

Oh, yeah, and we went to OryCon last weekend.

Tomorrow we're off to Vonda and Jane's, for what looks like a big fannish feast. That should be fun, although it'll seem odd to be neither a) going to Midland, b) or going to Canter's, or c) going to LosCon over Thanksgiving. But there you go.

I know it's impolite to point and laugh. But that's the kind of guy I am.

To wit:

"McNealy bristled at criticism that Sun has lost its strategy, saying the strategy has stayed the same for decades and its success will be evident when the company starts making money again."

That's right... Just as soon as they start succeeding, people will see how successful they are. Until then, they won't.

No, really.

Zen Master Yogi Berra must be very proud.

...will someone please tell me why we didn't see this headline in the last few days?

"Assistant to Canadian PM Resigns After Insulting Morons"

Enquiring minds want to know.
