DRM -- Threat or Menace?

You gotta love a story with this lead:

"The Dave Matthews band has posted instructions for circumventing the DRM on their own CD."

The labels tell us DRM is all to protect the artists.

Poor little artists. So protected they have to tell the paying customers how to circumvent the "protection".

Actually... Maybe the labels are being scrupulously truthful, but colloquial. Little did any of us know they meant the cosa nostra meaning of, "protection"...
