If you've ever looked at my Profile, you know I've been making something of a chapbook out of it.

However, since I'm becoming more diligent about tagging entries, it probably makes more sense to bring quotes to the front, and let tags carry the lifting and sorting. First, though, an entry or two on quotes I've been reminded of:

*^*^*

"I carry twenty-three great wounds all got in battle. Seventy-five men have I killed with my own hands in battle. I scatter, I burn my enemies' tents. I take away their flocks and herds. The Turks pay me a golden treasure, yet I am poor! Because I am a river to my people!"

-- Auda Abu Tayi, as written by Robert Bolt, Lawrence of Arabia

"I have a secret code called, 'icelandic,' so you will never know what's in here."

-- Bjork, holding up one of her personal notebooks, on a VH-1 special

So on Sunday, we went to the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection at Weyerhaeuser's corporate campus. We'd seen the signs for it many times, but this was our first visit. I was impressed.

This is in the basement of the Hotel Deca, the venue for the upcoming Corflu Zed, for those who haven't been there.

Tan and burgundy. Has a stylized "N" logo, and the label, "Nichirei."

Anyone care to claim it?

On People's Choice Countdown tonight, The Ting Tings with "Shut Up and Let Me Go." (I would show it to you directly, but they're not interested in making money "Embedding disabled by request")

What's interesting to me is how many other songs I hear in it, and the damn thing's only 2:55. The intro is right out of "Free Me," Roger Daltrey's primal scream from the soundtrack of McVicar -- and then I hear bits of Blondie's "Rapture," U2's "Sunday, Bloody Sunday," and Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax." All wrapped in the 'tude I enjoyed so much from Kate Nash's "Foundations."

Anyway. Me like.
