akirlu pointed me to
this fascinating segment on NPR's Marketplace about walkable cities. It's particularly personal for us because it leads off with the long term changes in Pasadena (I was giving a precis here in the office, and realized as I told the story that "20 years ago", which is used as the baseline in the story, is when we lived there).
Also interesting because it seems this is the first real estate trend driven by Gen X rather than Boomers, and there are some interesting ideas for why.
