I started my new job today.

Hey, all it took was 360 days. :)

I've been slated to start it for about a week-and-a-half now. It's just that I've been so close before and ended up left holding the bag, that I didn't want to say anything until I was in the door, sitting down, and at my station.

As of today, I am.

It's doing customer service for an extremely large software company on the Eastside, while not even being an employee. So I'm a temp. But then, as poet Richard Kenney pointed out in the P-I this weekend, so's the President. {shrug}

Still, it's a one-year contract, and appears to have lots of growth potential. My current host, Alan Rosenthal, started out at exactly the same company under exactly the same conditions and exactly the same position... and he's fairly well off now, with a house in Broadview and all.

Now for step two... which I may feel confident enough to post about as early as Friday, if the pieces fall together the right way.

Three cheers, and all that.

Thanks, that's much appreciated...

And while I have your ear, you do know that Acnestis is currently shipping to me in Seattle, while Ulrika is still in LA, yes? I just say this in case questions of minac are out there -- part of why she hasn't been contributing has been because Acnestis is up here while she's down there.

OTOH, sending them here is prolly the wise thing to do, anyway, because (especially now) I think it's wiser to have already gotten the address change out of the way while things were indefinite, rather than waiting... um, indefinitely.

Thanks.

So... Just how much longer is the clock ticking for us meeting up sometime? Do you have any timeline for a response from HRH Gov't regarding a decision? Or are you even still interested?

Praise be, and warmest of congratulations! I can only imagine how tough this has been for you.

I can hardly wait to meet Ulrika!!

You DO have our new number, right?

Thanks muchly.

Given that I'm 90+% sure she'll be up here by then, we may all be at Orycon. (...he said, doing cross-thread pollination)

But, um... I'm not sure if what I have is your new number (although I do have your new address). Does your number end with the digits 675?

And, while I have your attention... What happened to Dutch Treat? I was by there a while back, and new tenants were obviously adapting the site to Something Else. I asked a few folks nearby if they knew where you guys had moved, if all you'd done is move, but no one seemed to know.

I mention this because I still have a steel peg that goes into the biggish coffee table from your living room. So if one corner of the lower shelf/level of that thing has been unstable, now you know why.

(and you are not neither wordy. or, if you are, ghu only knows what i am... :)

I received my visa today (!), so I will most likely be shipping out in a few weeks. I'm leaving this Tuesday to spend about a week with my mother and family in Eastern Washington.

I will be leaving based on airfares rather than dates, so I'm unsure of my amount of free time left. We could meet, but it would probably have to be in Port Townsend and I'm not sure exactly when at this point. Sorry for being so vague. :(
