Birds join the cabal
Feb. 18th, 2009 09:06 amI saw this piece in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer when it was out on paper. I thought the New York Times would pick it up, but as near as I can tell, they only did an editorial on it, and not an article as such (if someone has better search-fu than I, I'd welcome it).
Anyway. It seems migratory birds have joined the vast left-leaning climate change conspiracy.
"(T)he National Audubon Society released a report based on this annual count indicating that half of 305 selected bird species in North America -- a sample that includes robins, gulls, owls and other common species -- are on average spending winter about 35 miles farther north than they did 40 years ago.
Birders discovered that one species also found in the Northwest, the purple finch, has shifted its winter grounds more than 400 miles to the north -- from about the San Francisco Bay Area to Olympia."
Let's repeat that again:
"(H)alf of 305 selected bird species in North America... are on average spending winter about 35 miles farther north than they did 40 years ago." {emph. added}
The article also includes a map graphic that's relatively clear.
