Connections (J. Rohrer)
Dec. 30th, 2008 01:34 pmSo, Evelyn Rodriguez tweeted about Jason Rohrer, who is apparently trying to make video games into an art form.
Jason Rohrer is not that far from Jim Rohrer, who was my boss at Toshiba. We were on a team that ran Toshiba's forum on Compuserve. I was curious whether Jason was Jim's brother, or son, or...? And whatever happened to Jim, anyway?
Meet musical duo Jim & Warren. Jim would be my old boss. Warren is Warren Allen, who along with Keith Comer was a product designer at Toshiba. (Turns out Keith & Warren do music together, too. Why does Warren never get top billing?, says the Stan Freberg fan.) The pointer stick instead of a touch pad? That was Keith's preference, as was the desire to get rid of the parallel port from the edges of notebooks (he lost on the stick, sales-wise, but won on the edges with USB). Gary Elsasser was the third in the product design troika of those days -- but I'm not finding any musical references for him. :)
I still have no idea if Jason and Jim are related. But it's fun to find out Jim is still rockin'. (We had a shared liking of Aimee Mann, back when.)
