I've been amibivalent about Valentine's Day since childhood, mostly because Mom was. After all, Dad died when I was seven, and she'd grown up always having the two conflated. Not unlike people born on Christmas, or New Years', this is a lousy deal.
Still, with my more romantical hat on, I do appreciate the idea of a day set aside to celebrate love.
Is great puzzlement.
So, I hope everyone you love is close to you today. If not, that you each hold each other in your thoughts...
And, equally as important and not as an afterthought... Happy Birthday, Mom. I hope you're having a fine time down in LA.
