Small impacts impinging on the universe.

So I really like Questionable Content, a web comic drawn around kinda-sorta just-out-of-college "indie" characters. Who have a lot of sass anyway. :)
So, one of the bands that keeps showing up in the posters of of the main characters' apartment is Mogwai. So I went and bought Happy Songs for Happy People from Rasputin Records in San Francisco while we were there for Potlatch.
And as I listen to it, I came up with a brilliant observation. "This stuff sounds a fair piece like Explosions in the Sky." Who I first heard a few years ago at the Sonic Boom Records in Ballard.
So I sent an e-mail to Jeph Jacques, the writer/artist/creator/900 lb. gorilla of QC, and I asked if he agreed. And on the 21st, he wrote back, "I am a big fan of EiTS as well, there's definitely some shared influence between them and Mogwai."
Nice little piece of interaction, I thought.
Then, I just looked at the new strip for today (Jeph tends to put them up about 11PM Pacific or so, as far as I can tell).
Note that the first two panels have an Explosions in the Sky poster, and panel three has a just-barely-discernible Mogwai poster.
Cool! :)
{guess i should check out mercury rev, eh? :) }
