More on Pixar's acquisition of Disney
Jan. 24th, 2006 07:30 pm...not that it's being billed that way.
But dig some of the details today, from The New York Times:
"John Lasseter, Pixar's chief creative officer and a former animator at Disney, will have the same title covering both animation units and will also become the principal creative adviser to the Disney unit that designs new attractions for the company's theme parks, and in that capacity will report directly to Robert A. Iger, Disney's chief executive. Pixar's president, Ed Catmull, will be the president of the combined studios and will report to Mr. Iger and Dick Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios."
So... Pixar staff will be in charge of animation, movies, and theme park design. Just about the only thing they won't be in charge of is ABC.
And who could blame them? {snark}
But seriously, this pretty much stacks up as a palace coup, as far as I can tell.
I wonder if they'll bring back the Weinstein brothers to Miramax?
*^*^*
Tip of the hat to Doc Searls:
"Prophesy fulfilled
