Given the current heat, there may well be brown- or blackouts, by the look of it. One tool I found useful during the power crunch of 2001 was this graph of state-wide electricity supply and demand by the California ISO.
Note the forecast peak demand for tomorrow exceeds any supply available today. There might be more supply they'll get online tomorrow, or there may not, I don't know.
Also, that's state-wide, so local conditions will vary.
