Best of times, worst of times

I hope I get across that I'm basically optimistic about people, and Americans in particular.

But I swear, when I read analyses like this one, or this one, as to why Obama isn't doing well in certain demographics... Well, they're both damnably plausible, which only makes it worse, as far as I'm concerned. Who wants to live like that?

It's almost enough to make one want to emigrate.

Hm, Obama got 2 to Clinton's 1 in both the precinct where I worked and the one where I live (on the scanned votes, that is people who came in and voted). And for the entire county, it's still Obama by current reporting. And Oakland has a large black population, but not a majority. I've always said I wasn't sure I lived in the same US.
