Dog bites man
May. 11th, 2009 03:26 pmI submitted the Mac Mini snow crash video as a news item to Slashdot. They rejected it.
So, apparently, this happens on Macs so often it is not news. "Dog bites man," rather than, "Man bites dog."
"Just Works," My Ass.

A more tightly-delimited Google search [search terms: "mac mini" "snow crash" -"snow leopard"] yields only 773 hits, so it can't be that common a problem.
Since I was thinking of getting a Mini to be able to run Snow Leopard, I'll be quite interested in hearing more of your investigation of this problem. It certainly looks like a hardware issue to me. Since your post in May, has the machine been examined by actual Apple techs?

Most of the hits on "mac snow crash" and related searches turn out to be Neal Stephenson related except for hits pointing to me. I'd expect more company, if it was common.

No. That's mostly due to laziness on my part, and to a lack of urgency. A quick power cycle clears the problem without apparent ill effect. At that point it's just a nuisance, albeit a spectacular nuisance.
