As to breed, it's a mystery. The page the Pasco shelter put up said "Japanese Spitz / Mix" which no one more recently seems to think is right. The rescue group put "Yellow Labrador Retriever, Whippet [Mix]," justifying the whippet or other sight hound on her relatively large rib cage. We're thinking Lab and Pharaoh Hound. But short of one of the $60 canine DNA kits... Yeah, it's a mystery.
How well do you know the people at the shelter? Have you thought of offering to take pictures of the pets for their website?
This is the kind of things that's done by someone taking snapshots these days. But, if done by someone with a better camera, and, more importantly, a better eye and more experienced hand, there can be a world of difference.
I don't know the shelter folks at all -- it's the Pasco shelter. Ulrika and I were talking about volunteer work when it comes to photos earlier today, but frequently the turnover is too fast, and the backgrounds a bit iffy.
i think she's just beautiful! we did go through a process (I may have written about it a bit) a couple years ago trying to get a new dog.. but our pick did not work out.. she was trying to trump our older dog's position in the house. while that might have made sense to her doggie sensibilities (hey I'm 3 and you're 10 and you're blind and I can kick your ass!) I could not keepher knowing that she might beat the crap out of my beloved Kato when I wasn't home.
Sometime soon we will be looking into another dog,.. when we are more stable. I am still trying to figure out what wisdom to use in picking. any advice? We thought we were doing the right thing in meeting the new dog at the shelter and seeing that she got along with kato. but once we got them home.. the behavior changed.....
