From the Seattle Times:

Record rain fell on the Seattle area in unrelenting, if not quite biblical sheets yesterday, bringing flood warnings for 10 Washington rivers, closing roads, unleashing a few mudslides — even prompting the distribution of sandbags for Seattle homeowners trying to keep water from seeping into their garages and basements.

All day, all night, rain fell, with the National Weather Service reporting an all-time record for a single day. The old record of 3.41 inches, set Nov. 20, 1959, was surpassed — almost laughably early — shortly after 5 p.m. at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. By 1 a.m. today, 5.02 inches had fallen, which set the record. The heavy downpour stopped over night and the drizzle began, adding 0.16 more inches of rain by 8:30 a.m.

The old record for Oct. 20, perhaps barely worth mentioning: 1.27 inches in 1956.

<---- Better?

*grin*

Sheesh! That is quite a bit of rain. Glad you escaped any water damage.

Only if your Inner Jane is better expression of you than your Inner Daria, grasshopper.

Unless you're just fishing. In which case you might get a nibble.

Anyway... yes, a lot of rain. The maintenance guys still have a rent-a-pump outside, and the Skagit River is about to crest. (Skagit rhymes with gagdet.) We're well to the south, thankfully, but Mt. Vernon is a cute town, and I hope they make it fine.

*laughs* I'm a Daria/Jane switch, I think, as I reflect both but am true to neither. :P Closer to Daria, though.

I don't fish outside established relationships. Flirt, certainly, but not fish. Perhaps I am misinterpreting "fishing." Heaven knows people can hardly agree on the definition (and implications) of "crush." *laughs* So asking what you mean by "fishing" is probably a good idea. Just so we are on the same page. Just playing, really - no need to take it the tiniest bit seriously.

Note to self: Do not taunt, tease or flirt with Happy Fun Hal, as he is a serious person and not to be eaten with ketchup...

The Daria icon is actually a bit of an in-joke. My old screen/IRC name--and this was many moons ago...--used to be Doria. When Daria came out, every gift-giving occasion thereafter yielded Daria merchandise or homemade items. *shrug* It fits, to some extent.

So, who do you come closest to in the Daria universe? Trent? Tom? The spastic milk-loving Jake Morgendorfer?

Best-

By fishing I meant in the sense of fishing for compliments, or a similar variety of fishing for the sake of flirting. Classic example, from my IRC days: Some one would say, "Nobody finds me attractive," whereupon I'd change my nick to "Nobody". Switching from Daria to Jane after my comment seems somewhat parallel.

"Note to self: Do not taunt, tease or flirt with Happy Fun Hal, as he is a serious person and not to be eaten with ketchup..."

We consult Old Man Noah, and he says, "Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!"

what's a cubit?

I would see myself as a kinda Trent/Tom hybrid. I do the music thing (or drama thing) when I have space and time. OTOH, I did go to an hoest-to-god prep school (albeit "bohemian prep" as the Preppy Handbook folks would have it, and on scholarship).

Why I still have the hots for my ex-girlfriend/sister I leave for my therapist and/or a major script re-write...
