There they go again...
Dec. 12th, 2003 08:42 pmIt seems like only a few days ago I was telling the story of how Bush, when confronted with the claim he "lies like Clinton", didn't disagree at all, but protested, "Them's fighting words."
Wait. It was only a few days ago. Damn.
But I was watching a few clips of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, specifically the segment, Bad Senator, and I noticed something. (note: that clip requires RealPlayer.)
Bush just did it again.
John Kerry has a new interview out in Rolling Stone. There's a much ballyhooed quote, where Kerry says, "When I voted for the war, I voted for what I thought was best for the country... Did I expect George Bush to fuck it up as badly as he did? I don't think anybody did."
Now, here's what White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card had to say in return: "I’m very disappointed that he would use that kind of language. That's beneath John Kerry. I'm hoping that he's apologizing at least to himself, because that's not the John Kerry that I know."
Does he say, "We're not fucking up in Iraq!"?
No.
Does he say, "Bush isn't fucking up in Iraq!"?
No.
Does he even say, "Bush isn't fucking up badly in Iraq... There have been some fuckups, sure, but, fog-of-war and all that, wot wot?"
No.
So, Andy doesn't disagree with Kerry at all... He just wishes Kerry would use milder language.
So, at least we know where Administration loyalists and insiders stand... {cough}
