Bang Beat Bong
Sep. 19th, 2008 11:06 pmSo this afternoon I caught THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE TRAVELING WILBURYS on the Sundance Channel. I DVR'd it to show
akirlu. We watched it together, and there's this section where the drummer, Buster Sidebury (aka, Jim Keltner), used the fridge in the house where the Wilburys' album was recorded as a percussion instrument for the song, "Rattled." I was reminded of Davd Van Tieghem, and got to thinking, "What is Van Tieghem doing these days"? Mostly music to accompany plays in NYC, by the look of it.
But while using teh googles to find out, I found this recent post at BoingBoing, which has embedded the four-and-a-half minute movie "Ear to the Ground" featuring Van Tieghem bouncing around the sidewalks of New York in 1982. It's a hoot:
