Well, not quite.

Meg points to a very interesting use of a Flickr: a recipe for a vegetarian dinner, illustrated with step-by-step photos.

This is where I think a lot of the movement is going to come from regarding material written by everyday folks: As the the more pro-like tools get in the hands of said folks, the quality of presentation will improve. The distinguishing factor won't just be access to the tools anymore. (And yes, that's not original to me -- Freff said it first, years ago {and his domain seems to be down})

*^*^*

The title of this post goes back to a restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. Their menu was... memorable. :)

Remember when desktop publishing software became common. The distinguishing factor wasn't asscess to tools, it was knowing that you didn't have to use every font you had.

Hear! Hear!

In part things are better because, in addition to the tools, the ideas have percolated out into the mainstream.

No longer is it all that difficult to find texts on page design.

Yep. Menu item Number 10: Pork offal soup (Thurs. Only). I am told, by a friend who once ordered it, thinking his brother had recommended it, that the flavor wasn't bad but it had the strangest textures of anything he'd ever eaten. He thinks it was the uterus, as all the other things he'd had before, in one form, or another.

I believe the Sanamluang Cafe is still there, but the menu was (mostly) corrected sometime before I was last there (less than six years ago, because I went with Maia).
